Braun Series 7 790cc Cordless Electric Foil Shaver Review – A Hands-on Experience
A year ago, I got the Braun Series 7 790cc Electric Foil Shaver from my special one as a gift. It is one of the best I have got till now. It has got almost all of the modern features and delivers pro-quality service. We have smartphones, but this is a smart-shaver.
It knows what it is doing and does most of the thinking while working. Sounds futuristic, right? It is all real and has been around for many years now. The only way to know it for sure is by using the Braun 790cc. I hope this review will give you some insight into this beast of a shaving tool.
This One Leaves no Hair Uncut
The Braun Series 7 790cc is equipped with 4 types of blades. Each type of blade aims for a particular hair type. As a result, the shaver is able to cut all kinds of hair with every stroke you make on your face.
Let me put it differently, the 790cc from Braun Series 7 cuts more hair than its competitors on a single stroke you make. Impressive, right?
8-D Contour Adaptation
The 790cc electric foil shaver has the ability to smoothly glide over any curve and contouring of your face. This is made possible by two things:
Firstly, the head is fully flexible. It moves front and back and sideways. No matter what shape your face is, the flexible head always adapts to the face bumps you have.
Secondly, the 4 blades I mentioned are able to float independently within a framework. This means that each of the blades can freely adapt to the contour of your face and cover more ground (err… read area on your skin). So, the head and the blades combine to provide the best contour adaptation possible.
Smart Shaver, It Is!
This is something you can’t say about many electric shavers. The Braun Series 7 790cc is called a Smart Shaver because it is almost as if it can think on its own.
Our facial hair does not grow equally and in the same way in all the places. Somewhere it’s dense, somewhere there’s no hair at all. The 790cc shaver can detect hair density with the help of Sonic Technology. Based on that, it gives you a boost where the hair is dense and works slowly when there is less hair around.
I see it as a balance of power and superior shaving technology. Now you won’t have to worry about consuming extra battery just because you put your shaver onto the top gear.
Every Hair will go under the Blade
I have already mentioned that the Braun Series 7 790cc has 4 different blades for different hair types. This is accompanied with ActiveLift Trimmer. The function of this trimmer is to raise flat-lying hair and then cut it down.
Plus, it has 2X OptiFoil that is designed to cut the smallest hair, be that only .05 mm long. All these features make sure you get the closest and perfect shave you can ask for.
Shave in the Shower
Many of us like to shave in the shower. The Braun 790cc is 100% waterproof so we can do that. The shaver can also be cleaned by placing it under running water. Moreover, this shaver eliminates the use of gel or foam. In fact, my experience says that shaving on dry skin with trimmers/shavers such as Braun gives the best result.
Different Modes for Different Skin Types
Two men have two different types of skin. And even their facial hair type and growth rate varies. So Braun has introduced 5 shaving modes to solve the problem. Generally, there is the regular shaving mode. Apart from that, there are four more.
On the lower part of the handle, there are two crescent-shaped buttons. Pressing one of them will activate Sensitive Mode. In this mode, the blades move slower than the general mode. And then there is the Turbo Mode. As you can guess, in this mode the blades move faster and the shaver provides a quicker shave.
1 Hour on the Dock = Full Charge
Like most manufacturers, Braun has also used Lithium Ion battery in the 790cc electric shaver. The battery requires only 1 hour to get fully charged. On “Full” charge, the shaver can deliver peak performance for 50 minutes. It is important that the battery maintains peak performance. If the speed drops after running properly until half of your shaving is complete – that will not be very pleasant.
Plus, if you want a quick shave, just a 5-minute charge will do nicely. It gives the battery enough legs to give you “One Full Shave.”
4-Action Cleaning/Charging Station
Braun likes to take things a step ahead. And in this case, they have taken 4 steps ahead. Instead of using regular charging method, the Braun Series 7 790cc uses a docking station that does more than just charging.
The alcohol-based Clean & Charge Station performs four functions at the same time. At first, it removes the stubbles from the shaver head, and then it cleanses the blade and lubricates it.
And lastly, the station charges the whole shaver. The cleaning and lubrication make the shaver feel like it is as good as new. The best part is you don’t have to worry about it at all. The station takes care of all the things.
Things I Liked About This Shaver

One Thing I don’t Like about this Machine
- It is quite heavy.
Final Thoughts
Braun Series 7 790cc is the best electric shaver I have used. No disrespect meant to the Braun Series 9 or five but this is the best combo for budget and performance for me. And I have used a great deal of electric and regular shavers.
However, I will share a piece of advice with you. All grooming tools are not made for everybody. If you want a fast shave, great performance, top-notch comfort while shaving, and a great feel, this shaver should put “Ticks” on all your boxes.
