And having used most of them, I can very well say that every penny is worth it.
I bought the Panasonic Arc4 some months ago. The shaver’s appearance really caught my attention. When I first looked at it, it felt like having some sort of AI. The features further interested me. So much so that here I am writing a review about this one.

Two Motors: One Cuts, One Vibrates
The Panasonic ES-LA63-S Arc4 is designed with Dual Motor Drive. This is something that is very unique in electric shavers. I for one have not found this type of feature in other products. The Dual Motor shaving system makes the shaver perform 1.5 times faster than the ones with a single motor.
One thing to note: two motors have two different functions. The linear motor delivers 14,000 cuts (or cycles) per minute. So for the four blades, it is 56,000 cuts per minute. As a result, shaving becomes fast, effortless, smooth, and time-saving. The second motor vibrates the machine to allow it to lift up flat-lying hair and hold it up for the blades.
Something Special About the Blades!
So the Arc4 has four blades, nothing surprising. Right? Look closely! The specialty of the blades lies in their design. These stainless steel blades are forged at a sharp and acute angle of 30 degrees. The blades are hypoallergenic and are gentle to the skin.
The blades accompanied with the Dual Motor drive make shaving swift and seamless. These things provide a very close shave, precisely cutting hair from its base. Moreover, the Li-ion battery gives out consistent voltage output so that you get peak performance throughout the battery’s life. As a result, every time you are sure to get a smooth and comfortable shave.
Cuts both Small & Long Hair
The four blades are accompanied four different arc foils. If you will look closely (J am repeating myself here), you will see that each of the foils has a different structure. The slit foils are designed to cut long hairs, while the others are for cutting short hairs.
In many places, long hairs remain flat against the skin. But the foil and the vibration of the shaver enable the slit foil to lift up those hairs so that the blades can cut them easily. This is very useful for shaving below the chin.
Shave with your Eyes Closed
No, don’t worry; I am not urging you to injure yourself in the process. The thing is, the Panasonic ES-LA63-S Arc4 has a Multi-Flex enabled head. That is, the head moves in almost every direction – back and forth and sideways. This allows the Arc4 to adjust to every curve on your face.
Only the shaver head is not responsible for the adjusting. The Arc Foils lying over the nanotech blades assist vastly in this regard. The arc foils are not fixed in their sockets. They also conform to the contour of your face. Plus, since the foils are curved in structure, they pose zero risks in causing any injury. So theoretically, you sure can shave blindfolded with the Panasonic Arc4.
Multi LCD Display
With the help of the LCD Display on the Arc4, you can keep track on the tool. The display shows the razor power status, charge indicator, battery percentage, and cleaning and replacement reminders for the blades. So even if you forget, the shaver will remind you how to keep it in good shape.
Safe for Travel
The Panasonic ES-LA63-S Arc4 is a good traveling companion for two reasons. Firstly, it is designed with a Travel Lock. What does it do? When you pack the shaver in your luggage along with everything else, there is a risk that the shaver might get switched on. This will, at first, waste all the battery charge. And then it will also damage the shaver by reducing its efficiency. With the help of the Travel Lock, there will be no scope for the chance of accidental switching on.
Secondly, the shaver can be charged at any voltage. The Universal Voltage Conversion Technology used in it will let you charge the shaver no matter where you go.
Dry or in the Shower
The Panasonic Arc4 is fully washable. And so you can clean the shaver very easily by placing it under running water. Or you can even clean the shaver while shaving. Any way you like it.
The Arc4 can be used dry or with gel/foam. While using gel/foam, it is better to rinse the foam right after you shave so that no residue remains inside the shaver head. Moreover, you can use this while in the shower. In short, you can use this shaver almost anywhere.

Bad Sides I found in my ES-LA63-S Arc4
- It takes more than 1 hour to get fully charged.
- When fully charged, it does not always work for a definite amount of time. It is either 50 minutes or less.
Last Few Words
The Panasonic ES-LA63-S Arc4 has made my shaving sessions pleasant and time-saving. It delivers consistent voltage and has a reliable motor. The blades and the foil make shaving safe and effortless. Most importantly, the blades don’t lose their edge.
I need to shave every two days. And with such frequent use continuously for the last two months, the shaver has not faltered a bit. It is also a good traveling companion, as its battery can be recharged at any voltage. Lastly, at such a limited price it’s a wonder that Panasonic has been able to put together so many things into a single ES-LA63-S Arc4.
